EasyTransfer is proud to support the Transnational Education Conference (TNE) 2023 organised by Universities UK International at London South Bank University! This conference offered a hybrid format, allowing participants to choose between remote or in-person attendance, complemented by a networking reception. Exclusively open to UUKi members, the event focused on TNE success and problem-solving, featuring a day of interactive sessions, plenaries, and discussions on all aspects of transnational education.
EasyTransfer Senior Advisor David Stringer-Lamarre spoke at the event. The Chair was Professor Judith Lamie, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Engagement, Swansea University. David was part of the panel discussing 'Addressing equity in transnational education partnerships.' Other speakers were as follows. Ian Storey, Director of Global Engagement, University of the Arts London. Rittika Chanda Parruck MBE, Director of Education India, British Council.
In addition, Stuart Bannerman, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor International of London South Bank University, shared his opinion on whether higher education institutions' future lies in the convergence of digital and face-to-face delivery. Latisha Gordon, Policy Advisor (Research policy & TNE) of Universities UK International, joined by Professor Simon Guy, PV Global (Digital, International, Sustainability) from Lancaster University, Professor Paul van Gardingen, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global Engagement from Bangor University, and Bobby Mehta, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) from University of Portsmouth, addressed the key findings and case studies of the 'Scale of UK TNE 2021/22' report.
According to the report, during the academic year 2021-22, 162 UK higher education providers reported a substantial growth in TNE, with 558,215 students participating across 228 countries and territories globally. Notably, the overall UK TNE numbers increased by 9.3%, with a particularly significant surge observed in Asia. Although China remains the primary host country for UK TNE by a wide margin, both Vietnam and India experienced remarkable increases, nearly 40% in each case.
